A downloadable soundtrack
Submission for the Impressions Composing Jam: Mystery Jam #1.
The theme was to compose from a specified motif.
I chose the one as follows:
There's full showcase of the music, provided together with individual tracks that loop seamlessly (Intro, Main and Battle), as well as a transition piece and a simple victory stinger.
The main idea was derived from the name of the jam itself, so to keep a bit of a "mystery" theme. Therefore, concept is not as much of an action game, but rather more exploratory focused. More specifically, sea exploration / sailing themed.
INTRO
This short loop can have at least two different usages. First, it would work well as a kind of Main Menu piece, before we jump into the actual game. Second, it could be used for something like a cave/tomb/haunted ship exploration scene.
MAIN
Main game loop, meant for the general exploration. Adventurous, but with a hint of anxiety and danger.
BATTLE
Confrontation piece. Does not have to be an actual battle, with swords and whatnot. What I had in mind was something more like a pursuit level, but should work as well for most other action scenes.
TRANSITION & STINGER
Not much to say about those. Transition piece is meant to go from MAIN loop and BATTLE loop, link those two through a juicy bit crush effect, while keeping MAIN loop on something like a "stuck vinyl" state. STINGER is just a simple melody for a victory fanfare. As long as it is BPM-locked with the BATTLE loop, can be triggered in any point of the encounter.
